wednesday.gif

Wow…this week is flying by isn’t it?  Ok it is for me.  I am not getting much done around here…or at least not getting the things done I thought I would be able to do with no kidlets home.  Guess I work better in total choas.

WEAVING PROGRES

Here’s my latest wrap in progress.

SPINNING

I signed up for the Tour De FleeceGo over and check it out if you are a spinner or a wanna be spinner and challenge yourself.  But sign up soon as sign ups are almost over.

Also I had this roving for sale over at my etsy shop but it called to me to start spinning it.  I started it last night.  I see it woven into a bag of some sort in the very near future with a splash of gold and something else.

It’s tuesday.gif and kggSheepSunny1.gif

My kiddos are at church camp this week.  I guess it’s sort of like a vacation bible school, but they are calling it ARTS CAMP.  They are singing and dancing and acting and basically getting a program put together for Sunday.  I am enjoying some much overdue alone time.

Yup…the “blues” arrived on Tuesday.  He had to try them on.  Of course, the patches aren’t sewn on, it’s not altered, and the medals aren’t attached….but he still looks great in it.

Now to get it all put together for a 2-July event.  ARGH!

Almost done with the Americana socks, then it’s on to knitting Socks For Soldiers.  Want to know more about SFS?  It’s a great project starte by Kim Opperman.  Her son is in the Air Force and she wanted to show her support. She has a YAHOO GROUP dedicated to it.  Check it out and see if you can help knit a pair of big black socks for a deployed soldier.

Onesome: Hurry- What kind of driver are you? Always in a hurry, speeding to your destination, or going along with the flow whilst sticking to the speed limit exactly? Or are you somewhere in between? If you don’t drive, are you always in a hurry, more laid back or some where in between, personally?  Let’s see….I generally drive with 5 kids in the car and sometimes a husband as well.  I try not to be in a hurry and a laid back driver not wanting to take any extra risks.

Twosome: up- What drives you up a wall when you are driving? If you don’t drive, just tell us your biggest pet peeve. STOOPID DRIVERS

Threesome: and wait- You rushed to get where you needed to go on time, and now you face a wait. Your date’s not ready, your table in the restaurant you booked isn’t ready, or the doctor is running behind, whatever it is, you were on time, but they aren’t. How do you react? Do you complain, sit and wait, all the while silently fuming, or just settle in and wait, accepting it as part of life? It’s perfect sock knitting time.  Hey there are times when we are waiting at a resteraunt (and let’s face it with my family size…we generally HAVE to wait) that the kids or my husband will ASK me to take out my latest sock project and start knitting.  Seems that within minutes we are seated or have our food delievered to the table.  It works for us all.

AS PROMISED…AN UPDATE

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

It’s kggWidgeBeeTuesday1.gif and kggSheepHot1.gif

As promised, here’s an update.  First some pictures to share with you.  Chris is learning to weave.  On Sunday I decided to teach him to weave on my rigid heddle loom.  He picked out two of his yarn colors from his own personal “stash”.  I warped the loom for him and told him some basic things and the rest was up to him.

He decided to make his warp yarns black and his weft a variegated and black.  He is changing colors every ten rows.  If he keeps up the pace he’s on, he should be done by tomorrow.

I finished my Baby Nothings Socks. The pattern I used for the cuff used was from Tisha’s Jersey Rip Tide Pattern and my Baby Nothing’s  Colorway.  (if interested in purchasing the yarn, just drop me a note and I will let you know the specs on it)

And here are the yet to be named socks.  I am creating the pattern and hope to have it available shortly.  It works up really quickly and is cute.  I started these on Saturday after the power went out during the storm.  This is my “Americana” color way.  (again if interested in purchasing…just let me know).  As you can see I am working them toe up, two at a time on one circ.

Now for the shaving tale…which I guess in the grand scheme of things isn’t such a big deal, but here it was.  Sunday morning before church, Jimmy took our oldest into the bathroom and taught him….to shave.  He’s only 12!  But he needed it.   Yup, nearly a full moustache and the other kids (not just the ones in our house either) really started razzing him about it and he was getting really self conscience about it.  Hubby and son were in the bathroom for quite awhile.  There was some bleeding from a cut on the upper lip, but all in all, everything turned out ok.  While the trauma was still fresh on having my “baby” shaving, I realized it was time to take oldest daughter into the bathroom and teach her the fine art of shaving her legs.  So, later that same day, Cass had a lesson on leg shaving.  We the women were victorious and there were no nicks or cuts, just very smooth legs and at the end of the evening, we had two very happy children.  Truly it was the parents that were traumatized by the events of the day.

Woo hoo…after a tremendous storm on Saturday we are finally back on line today.

Bear with me while I wade through a gazillion emails.  I will be back to share the “Shaving Tales” completed Baby Nothing Socks, and the start of a new pair of socks (yet to be un-named) in one of my new color ways.

Be back later today.

FINISHED ON FRIDAY

Today I Feel :kggSheepArtistic.gif and kggSheepHot.gif

THANK YOU

Kiki made me a whole bunch of special sheepie graphics.  Please toddle over and see her for some really cute graphics.  A very special thank you goes to her.  She has repeatedly gone out of her way to help me out with graphics and wordpress issues.  Thanks Kiki.

FINISHED PROJECT

Last week (8-June) I showed three skeins of yarn I dyed and asked you to guess what I was going to make.  There were several guesses and some had it right.  Yup, it was another wrap.  I completed it this morning, washed it, blocked it, and here it is.

and of course I had to post this shot of my oldest daughter.  I think the painful looking expression comes from her wrapping it around herself while it’s 100 degrees outside.  At least it was beezy

This will be in the mail on Monday (our post office is closed on Saturday’s) and headed up near Fort Drum.  The next one is ready to be warped and I am thinking blue, green, and a little white.  So stay tuned for it.

On The Needles

I should be finishing the Baby Nothings Socks tonight or tomorrow and will post the completed picture.  I was having a hard time deciding what to do for the cuff and came along this blog. Tisha shared her Jersey Riptide pattern with me.  She shows her pattern in two solids, but I decided to give it a try with my Baby Nothings variegated yarn.  Really like how it looks.  They won’t be a really long cuff as I didn’t start with a full skein (it was just a test skein) to begin with.  They are looking cute.   am thinking that I will do another pair using this pattern and use the solid colors sometime down the line.

Weekend Plans

Not really sure what’s on tap for this weekend.  There is a possibly trip up to the “big” city tomorrow but I don’t know if we will go or not.  Hubby was only supposed to work half a day today, but alas, is still there.  I know Sunday will be spent just lazing around the house with hubby being pampered.  No matter what you all do, I pray you are safe and have fun.
