James 1:19-25

 The Voice of God

To hear the voice of God we must have a listening ear. Often times, our ears are not tuned into what God is saying.  If you have a radio set even a little off the exact frequency of the station, you will get interference and bleed through.  In order to hear the word of God, you must be tuned into His frequency.

Cultivate an Attentive Heart

“Be quick to hear and slow to speak…”  (James 1:19)

Cultivate a Calm Spirit

“…and slow to anger.”  (James 1:19)

Cultivate a Clean Heart

“Therefore putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness…”

    (James 1:21)

Teachable Spirit

“Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness, Who seek the Lord: Look to the rock from which you were hewn, and to the quarry from which you were dug.” (Isaiah 51:1-3)

Humility

“..in humility receive the word...” (James 1:21)

Be teachable

Hospitality

“…implanted, which is able to save your souls.”  (James 1:21)

Hospitality means to welcome or receive into your home.  Therefore, welcome and receive the word of God into your life and heart.

Obedient Walk

“But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hears who delude themselves.”  (James 1:22)

Walk the walk and talk the talk

   Don’t Forget

“for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what   kind of person he was.”  (James 1:24)

A careless man/woman forgets while an earnest one remembers.

You look in the mirror and see what you look like and find out what you need to do before you walk out the door.  You need to look into the word and find out WHO you “really” are and what you need to let God do to fix it.

God delights to speak to us. When HE know we are does of HIS word, HE delights to speak to us even more.
